About
Cranko Architects is an NZIA Practice based in Wellington, offering expertise across a range of building types. We have been providing professional architectural and heritage services since 1987.
We gain most of our work by referral and repeat commissions. We commit to see projects out over a long period.
We have an environmentally sustainable and practical approach to building architecture.
Architectural design
Our work responds to the unique characteristics of each project. We bring in light and views, plan good internal flow and relationships within buildings, and provide indoor-outdoor living opportunities.
Our work includes new commercial, residential and community projects. We respect the integrity of existing structures and in designing new facilities within and alongside them. We work together with our clients to respond to feelings, needs, wants and budget.
Sustainable design
Sustainable design is about good design at the outset.
We locate buildings to receive optimum light and warmth from the sun with care to avoid overheating in summer. We also take into account the wind micro-climate, neighbouring buildings and vegetation. We suggest materials that perform efficiently with a minimum of harm.
We assist with information on the benefits and drawbacks of technology, water collection for solar, residential power generation and construction materials.
